Mind in Motion the Cause
I am so excited to talk a little more in depth about my collection, Mind in Motion. I feel like I have been photographing this moment forever. I am always searching for the feeling of calm, stillness, and freedom. Although my life looks beautiful and free, my mind is anything but.
As a kid, teenager, and adult, I have struggled with heavy anxiety. I went through some pretty hard things in 2024 that shaped some issues and resolved some. I am so proud to have come out of 2024 feeling like a new person with a new focus… my art.
I was constantly told by people who were supposed to be family and large supporters that the college I was going to to get my Bachelor's in Photography was not a real school. I was told that I was not funding a real career. I was told to put the camera down and relax. I was told my life was not a movie and that I needed to learn to deal with hard things. Every time these words were said, they fueled a fire in me that only made me want to prove all of these people wrong.
I moved into my own place in May of 2024 and spent the next 2 years working on my art. My first Mind in Motion picture was taken in November of 2024. Around this time, I met someone and started exploring not only my photography skills, but a world where people support everything you want to do. With people by my side, I was able to develop this series, turning my anxieties, fear, and constant swirling mind into something dreamy and beautiful.
This brings me to 2026, where I packed everything I own, moved into a van, and left my stable job, friends, and family to pursue this art. To take images to finish my series, as well as make some beautiful images for socials and prints. I still struggle every day with the constant fear of the unknown and the self-doubt that I have always lived with, but I have found ways that can take the mind in motion and turn it into something beautiful.
I have always wanted to look for the light in things. I try my hardest to find the bright side. Putting myself out there, putting my art out there, is scary. I'm always filled with the what-ifs. Mind in Motion captures all of these moments that I have daily. The small and the big emotions.
If you haven't had a chance to look it over, please feel free to do so. I am so proud of the work I have created.
