New York Week 5: Museums

I am a girl who loves museums and there are so many of them in New York City! We were luck to squeeze 5 museums into our 3 day trip. I will always look for an opportunity to enjoy some artwork, this can be in multiple different forms. These can include museums in national parks or more iconic ones like the Museum of Modern Art. Here were my TOP 3

Museum of Art and Design

Location: 2 Columbus Cir, New York, NY 10019

The Museum of Art and Design was not a planned visit. With the low cost it was worth going in to see all the amazing art. It costs $10 for 1 adult ticket, $8 for seniors, $7 for students (with valid ID), and 12 and under are free! This is a great low cost option for a museum in NYC that has lots to see. My favorite Installation is found on a stairwell, Seeing is Believing by Judith Schaether. I loved the patterns, colors and the way the outside light hit the glass. Currently this museum has Alice Riehl’s Porcelain Florilegium, The Mad MAD World of Jonathan Adler, OUT of the Jewelry Box, and upcoming exhibit of Haas Brothers: Uncanny Valley, opening April 11, 2026. I got to see lots of awesome art and there was lots to do during each exhibit.

The Museum of Modern Art

Location: 1000 5th Ave, New York, NY 10028

The MET is one of the most ICONIC places in NYC. If you are an avid Gossip Girl fan like me, just taking a picture on the steps makes it a work of art. What lies inside is so grand and beautiful. $30 for adults, $22 for seniors, and $17 for students is a great price for all you are seeing. My personal favorite exhibit was ancient Egypt. It was super awesome seeing replicas of the buildings. One thing I love about the MET is all of the diversity they have there. You can truly see artwork from every time period from all over the world. This is truly an amazing experience. TIP: Make sure you have plenty of time to explore. Leaving little time means you will not be able to see everything. Check their socials and online information prior to coming in. They often have fun things going on that add to the experience like drawing classes, or music.

Museum of Modern Art (MOMA)

Location:

The MOMA was my absolute dream come true. Truly my favorite museum in NYC, maybe ever. My dreams of Starry Night, Andy Warhol, and Salvador DalÍ, truly had me in tears. As an artist there is something so special about seeing the art you have looked at on screens, and in books your whole life. I had been to the MET before but getting to visit the MOMA for the first time was such an awesome experience. This museum is huge as well. It is so important to have plenty of time to go through everything. I felt like we spent so much time there and still did not get to see everything. Adults cost $30, Seniors 65 and over are $22, students with ID $17, children 16 and under are free!

Overall

Museums are a great way to soak in all time periods, art types, and feelings. As an artist who could only dream of my work being in a gallery, getting to visit some of the most iconic galleries in NYC made this trip worth it alone.
